Navi Mumbai Civic Health Department Focuses on Early Detection of Non-Communicable Diseases
Navi Mumbai, October 7, Aarogyam Times: The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) Health Department is conducting a special health campaign titled ‘Tishicha Palla – Tapasani ani Salla’ (Cross 30, Get Checked and Get Advice) to promote good health among citizens above the age of 30 and ensure the timely detection of non-communicable diseases (NCDs).
The campaign is being implemented across the entire NMMC jurisdiction from September 1 to December 10, 2026, with the objective of ensuring that citizens aged 30 and above have access to essential preventive health screening services.
The primary objective of the campaign is to facilitate the early detection of serious health conditions associated with increasing age, enabling timely treatment and preventing complications. As part of the initiative, health workers will conduct preliminary health screenings by visiting citizens at their homes.
Key Health Screenings Under the Campaign
The campaign includes screening for several major health conditions:
- Diabetes: Blood sugar levels will be checked for the early detection of diabetes.
- High blood pressure: Regular blood pressure screening will help identify hypertension and reduce the risk of cardiovascular complications.
- Oral cancer: Preliminary screening will be conducted for oral cancer, particularly conditions associated with tobacco, gutkha and other risk factors.
- Cervical cancer: Women will be screened for the early detection of cervical cancer.
- Breast cancer: Women will be screened for signs of breast cancer at an early stage.
The campaign follows the three-pronged approach of ‘Early Screening – Accurate Diagnosis – Timely Treatment’ and aims to improve health awareness among citizens over the age of 30 across Navi Mumbai.
The NMMC has appealed to all men and women above the age of 30 residing within its jurisdiction to cooperate fully with health workers visiting their homes for the screening process.
Citizens who require further medical advice or treatment following the preliminary screening have been advised to promptly contact their nearest NMMC Urban Primary Health Centre.
The appeal has been issued on behalf of Mayor Sujata Patil and Municipal Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde, urging citizens to make use of the campaign and take proactive steps towards maintaining their health.
